Congratulations!
New TAA member Annette Boncek recently had a studio art quilt titled Spring Awake purchased for permanent display by the Rocky River Public Library. TAA member Joanne Strehl Bast had an oil painting accepted into the second annual juried members show at the Towson Arts Collective, York Street, Towson, MD. She also had a felted wall piece accepted into the Creative Arts Council biennial show at Strathmore Arts Place in Rockville, MD. The felted piece won the Handweavers of America Award. |

Her work involves the complex interrelation of materials collaged in encaustic (wax). WorkshopExploring the Fiber/Encaustic ConnectionLorraine GlessnerFriday and Saturday, September 25-26, 2009, 10:00–4:00 This workshop introduces the participant to the basics of encaustic painting as well as a variety of advanced techniques. TAA Events Play Day with CMA
Textile Conservator Wed, Sept 9, 7-8:30 Robin Hanson, CMA's Associate Conservator of Textiles, will talk about proper care and storage of textiles, both the textile art objects that TAA members may themselves create, and those heirloom textiles that we all have in our collections at home. She will cover proper vacuuming techniques, rolling of sturdy two-dimensional textiles, and boxed storage of three–dimensional textiles. Limited space available. Fee $25.
