Lecture

Nagada, the Place Where Human History Meets the Search for Art
Nina Setrakian
Wednesday, November 11, 1:30 *****Note this is the corrected date!
CMA Classroom

“On the left bank of the river Nile, between Qena and Luxor, Nagada hasn't stopped weaving for millennia. Even the looms are the same as those used 1000 years ago…

Nina Setrakian’s power point presentation takes one on a magical journey starting in Nagada, one of the oldest inhabited settlements in the world where peasants had for generations produced a simple zigzag on local cottons. The journey continues to other weaving centers of Egypt to present day Nagada clothing and Accessories where Michel Pastore and Sylva Nasrallah design a very unique line of clothing that is beyond the boundaries of time, one that draws its strength from a variety of cultural heritages, the place where human history meets the search for the art.

This interactive power point presentation is a treat to the senses.

Lecture free to TAA members and full-time students, $5 at the door for general public

TAA Wearable Art Fashion Show

The 6th Annual show was a huge success due to the extraordinary efforts of Chairperson, Katherine Dunlevey, and all our TAA volunteers.  More information about the show will be in FiberARTicles, which will be sent to all TAA members in December.

TAA MEMBERS -

I just wanted you to know how important you were to the success of our Wearable Art Fashion Show fundraiser.  We completed all the input for the artist sales and the financial report and found that we cleared about $27,000.  So we were oversold with 560 people and sold more artist wares than last year!

Thank you for making it possible.

Katherine Dunlevey, Fashion Show Chair
