TAA June Collection VisitEthnic and Rural Textiles **Friday, June 25, 1:00-3:00 Moreland Hills Home As a child in Iraq, our hostess learned to stitch from the nuns at school, and was always surrounded by relatives who knitted, sewed and embroidered. Visit her home with its lovely garden, and see hand woven and embroidered rugs from Iraq including an antique prayer rug, a mud cloth batik by an African artist, wall hangings from Thailand and Myanmar, traditional loomed fabric clothing from Malaysia and an interesting patchwork bedspread from Luxor, Egypt. Enjoy luncheon and beverages. $40, TAA members $30; reservation required. The installation exhibit resulting from the Nami Yamamoto workshop in May is now on display during the month of June at the CH/UH Library,2345 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights. Participating artists are Carole Richburg Brown, Susan Danko, Joann Giordano, Karen Hinkle, Chris Mauersberger, Carole Wallencheck, and Marty Young. Two of the installation pieces are in areas of the main library and most are in the front and rear galleries on the West side of Lee Road. So on your way to savor the flavors at any of the great restaurants along Lee Road, stop in and take in the visual delights of this innovative exhibit. |

July TAA Collection Visit The Kangas Collection Saturday, July 10, 2010 1:00-3:00 Private Home/Concord OH Our Concord hosts embrace artists for their individuality, ethnic heritage and diverse thinking. Their extensive collection includes paintings, textiles, calligraphy, decoys, wooden trophy fish and animal sculptures as well as rare and dramatic Finnish woolen bed rugs (ryijys) from the early 1700s, Brayshaw fish carvings from the 1930s and antique Amish Quilts.
Since this visit is Northeast of Cleveland, we added other activities in the area for your enjoyment. Join us for all or part of the itinerary. It is suggested that carpools be formed.
