Textile Mounting, Materials, and Methods
Robin Hanson

Saturday, March 20, 2010; 10:00 - 4:00
CMA Art Viewing Room

Robin Hanson, CMA’s Associate Conservator of Textiles, leads a workshop for artists and collectors that focuses on the materials that artisans use in their creations. This workshop is designed for the benefit of both artist and collector; providing detailed information on displaying created, collected, and favorite family heirloom textiles in an archival-appropriate manner. Various display options used at the museum and adapted for TAA will be discussed.

Robin's presentation includes samples of members' work which have been mounted. Take home material including a description of mounting techniques and sample materials provided. Participants are invited to bring to the workshop one textile object about which they may have a question regarding mounting/display

Collection Visit:  Rocky River Home

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Time 1-3

What do porcelain, celluloid, bakelite, shell, and metal have in common? For one thing, they were all used to make buttons for clothing.  Join us at this Rocky River home as we view an extensive button collection spanning the 1840's to the 1940's. The collector will present a historical overview of buttons, and lead us on a tour of her other collections which include military uniforms and memorabilia.  Donation is $30 for TAA members, $40 for non-members; your check is your reservation. Light refreshments will be served.  Please contact Charla Coatoam at 216-381-2383, ccoatoam@yahoo.com for more information.
