ZeroLandfill:  Burlap Bags Available!
From Christy Gray of ZeroLandfill :  One of my colleagues has the ability to bring several hundred pounds of burlap bags to Cleveland this Friday, October 1st. It is clean and dry, came from his friend's winery and is available at no cost.   If interested, email info@zerolandfill.net.

Quilt and Doll Exhibit Featuring Rachel Clark

African American Quilt & Doll Guild’s Quilt and Doll show, October 15 and 16, 2010. TAA members Carole Brown, Sandra Noble, Vivion Ferguson and Helen Murrell are members of this guild and will have quilts in the show.  Congratulations to these members! Book and Paper Arts
OCTAVOFEST: Celebration of the Book and Paper Arts that will take place throughout the month of October at various venues across the area, including at CMA. The complete schedule is available at http://library.csuohio.edu/octavofest/ and includes exhibits, demonstrations, workshops, and other events.
Of particular note, is the WatchART! program at the Morgan Conservatory on  October 16, where members of the local Art Books Cleveland group will be working on individual projects that showcase the variety of book and paper arts represented by our group.
Wanted: Bead Weaving Instructor

From Lisa Reichel at CIA:   I have a student who is looking for someone to teach her how to weave beads on a Mirrix loom.  If you or someone you know is experienced with bead weaving and would be interested in teaching this student please contact Lisa Reichel at lreichel@cia.edu
Art Exhibit Announced
 

TAA member, Annette Boncek will feature her mixed media fiber artwork at the the “Making Visible” exhibit October 1 to November 7, 2010, at Summit Art Space, Akron, Ohio.
 
The exhibit will include the work of mixed media artist Maria Zanetta and photographer Jeffrey Eason. The show opens Friday, October 1 with a free meet-the-artists reception from 5 to 7 pm.
 
The theme for the exhibit comes from artist Paul Klee:  “Art does not reproduce the visible, but rather makes it visible.”

TAA Lecture
The Business of Art: Finding the Balance, Rose Corrick, Wednesday, November 10, 2010,1:00-3:00, Lecture at Bainbridge Studio
Rose Corrick is the owner of Art of Cloth; a Chagrin Falls based business which produces collections of hand-dyed women’s clothing for the wholesale apparel markets.  Her clothing line, available in over 400 boutiques nationwide, includes easy-wear jersey separates which feature her distinctive surface designs. 
With a background in business and textile design, Corrick set out to explore the “business of art”, creating a venue called “Art of Cloth” to showcase her textile art talents in a commercial business setting.  She will share her life-changing journey of bringing her love of textiles to the marketplace and discuss the challenges of keeping her creative center with the demands of running a profitable business.  Come to her studio for a lecture, tour and demonstrations.
