Solo Exhibit:  Mary Ann Tipple

TAA member Mary Ann Tipple's solo show Remembrances is up at The Gathering Place, 23300 Commerce Park, Beachwood until the end of April. Hours are 9 to 5 Monday thru Friday, 9 to 1 Saturday. The show contains many quilts celebrating her mother's life.

Altered Book Exhibit


Long time TAA member, Anne Weissman, announces the fifth exhibit of her Altered Book Group. Also exhibiting their new book-works on the topic of DREAMS are Cynthia Beeker, Phyllis Brody, Sarah Clague, Gene Epstein and Zena Zipporah.
      The exhibition opens at Loganberry Books Annex Gallery, 13015 Larchmere Blvd, Shaker Heights, on April 7 with a reception from 6-8pm, all are welcome. Call 216-795-9800 for more information. The exhibit continues through April 30.

Week of Wow at Paysage

Paysage, an interior design store on  3451 Fairmount Blvd, Cleveland Heights,OH  presents " Week of WOW" May 10-12 .  Paule Marrot, French Textile Designer-1902-1987 is the featured artwork.

TAA Annual Luncheon

Our TAA luncheon is on Wednesday, May 11, 2011*** (note date) at 11:00 am at ExecutiveCaterers, Landerhaven, in the elegant Lander Ballroom. Invitations will be mailed in early April. A delicious luncheon will be offered for $30.  Members are encouraged to bring friends to hear our featured speaker, David Franklin, newly appointed director of the Cleveland Museum of Art, and to enjoy the silent auction and spontaneous fashion show.

Members eagerly await our silent auction each year. De-accessioned textiles from the museum will be offered for sale as well as items donated by members.

TAA Silent Auction

TAA's fabulous Silent Auction this May will feature some of the de-accessioned pieces from the CMA Education Art Department that were given to TAA to use for fund-raising purposes as well as member-donated items.  De-accessioned pieces include:  a red and white 19th century woven wool/cotton coverlet, a yellow sunflower print on silk from the 1920s, a lovely early 20th century drawstring bag in wool compound weave from Central America, a large hand-blocked "Jungle" panel from England, an early 20th Century Italian velvet textile with a pattern of griffins, and many, many more. 

We encourage you to look through your stash of fabric, books, yarn and any fiber related materials to donate for the TAA Silent Auction.  You will feel good making a charitable contribution AND have room to buy more!!  Items will be collected at the end of April.  Contact Nina Setrakian 216-765-9886 to drop-off items on east side, ninasetrakian@roadrunner.com  or Mary Ann Tipple for West side drop-off tip060@windstream.net

For nine years Paloma Pilar Grasso has been the owner of Galeria Quetzal, a Hispanic folk and fine art gallery, which, among other things, carries textiles from all over the Hispanic-Latin world. She has traveled to most of these countries, made friends, and studied the techniques with which the objects were made. Her presentation will include the textiles of five countries— Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Haiti, and Peru—with personal anecdotes on meeting some of the artists.

International and Solo Exhibit for Shirley A. McElhaney

The collage art of TAA member,Shirley A. McElhaney is on exhibition, along with 114 artists from 11 countries at the Percy Thompson Gallery in Stratford, New Zealand as a part of the 13th  Annual International Collage Exhibition.  The exhibition closes on May 1, 2011.  But, can continue to be viewed at www.virtual.tart.co.nz

The Collection, one collage of each artist, including Shirley's "Paris Fountain" will become a part of the Permanent Collect of the renown Learning Connexion. The exhibition gallery is spacious and the Collection will be held with honor.

Solo Exhibition:The art of Shirley A. McElhaney will be in solo exhibit at the Conneaut Center For The Arts; 1025 Buffalo St., Conneuat, Ohio.  The exhibit consists of 42 pieces of her multi-media art and will be on view from May 7, 2011 until June 1, 2011.  The Opening Night Reception is Saturday, May 7, 2011; and, starting at 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.  The evening will be filled will art, music, foods and local wines.
